Things Do and Don't Deaf People Based On My Experience

Source: Search Engine Journal Hello hearing people over the world! I am sure that hearing people know that there are Deaf people everywhere but they do not know sign language and how can they communicate with them? Here is I would like to share things do and don't treat to Deaf people. This only can help you increase awareness possibility. Deaf people are such various of background and communication. Deaf people AREN'T the same as other Deaf people. Here is the first thing that you get to know.  Deaf privilege, Deaf ally, Deaf with reading-lips, Deaf with fully sign language, Deaf with both languages, CODA/ Children of the Deaf Adult, etc. Those are can be questioned that why do hearing people never realize that Deaf people aren't the same as other Deaf people. They think Deaf people are the same. That's just the beginning problem when they meet with Deaf people for the first time.  Well, this is about the Deaf awareness. Okay, we will start with 5 things do and don...

Sign Language Interpreter ISN'T A Companion For A Deaf Person Lifetime (and, Thing One)

Source: Wyecliffe Bible Translation When hearing people think that a sign language interpreter is a companion for Deaf people lifetime. Well, that's not true. We still have to pay a sign language interpreter as the look like you also need to pay a Spanish interpreter. A sign language interpreter is doing what another professional Spanish interpreter does. What they work as a Spanish interpreter does. There is no difference. They are the same.  But, in this context, I'd like to say that there are differences, in what for anyone who needs an interpreter. If you can't speak Spanish, you need an interpreter, so who is need an interpreter? You have to, no a Spanish native. As what kind of a Deaf person is natively sign language growing up and would never need an interpreter. Then who needs it? A hearing person does since a hearing person doesn't know sign language and a hearing person needs an interpreter so can communicate with Deaf people.  Then, in shout-out the accessibi...

DEAFLYMPICS IS OVER! THAT IS WHY I LOVE SPORTS

The 24th Summer Deaflympics is finally over! The Closing Ceremony was officially closed on May 15th, 2022. Marathon became the last sport discipline running the last finish. Congratulations to Ukraine! Ukraine is amazing and it is inconceivable that a country that is at war still be the champion of the Deaflympics.  Ukrainian athletes fled to several nearby countries such as Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, etc due to war in February 2022 and trained with their athletes. Ukraine hadn't accepted the fundin...

FAKE INTERPRETER!

When I was touring Teras Merapi with 9.738 feet in height and 20 miles in distance by car, I was reading something that really interesting. What that is? Surya Sahetapy who is a Deaf activist taking study in Rochester, New York posted a video about a fake interpreter at the police press conference (the link: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdk_hYrpJEH/ ). That's not surprised because it always happens. I surely understand that many hearing people want to learn sign language and that's good. We are happy. And even, we are still happy to know that you only know basic sign language because you're good at signing. But, we have own standard if you want to be an interpreter. If you don't sure, I want to shout out how does Deaf Americans testing a hearing student who wants to be an interpreter.  In the United States, they have many universities and community college offer sign language linguistic and Deaf studies program so hearing people who want to be an interpreter can apply an...

A Family, I Should Have Known About

The International English Center, where the place may going to be unforgettable in all my life. I was lucky to have and meet with people who I would be thinking of as my family. As I spent a long time being alone and lonely, I lost everything I should have here. It all began in 2021 when my last best friend moved back to Sumatra and one is taking a master's degree in the United States. I lost and regret of my action shouldn't be ever done. But, after many years I get through, I found the family that I have been looking for. What that is? Chi Alpha Jogja! Many communities actually but I'm going to only take a specific community that maybe I would be. Chi Alpha Jogja is a free-English community for students in Jogja. Based on an official Instagram, Chi Alpha is a place for discovery-- discovering who you are and connecting with God. Chi Alpha also offers that you can learn English with foreign people who living in Jogja. I joined them for the first time on May 13th, 2022. I m...

Should English Course Center Open A Special Class For the Deaf?

Like the previous story about "Are You Thinking That Deaf People Can't Learn English? Or the link that you can open  https://rakanurmujahid10.blogspot.com/2022/03/are-you-really-thinking-that-deaf.html . I'm about to hope and have been dreaming that the English course center will have a special class for the Deaf. So, why should be? Deaf people in Indonesia only haven't a chance to learn English that should have been started in kindergarten and mostly study in special needs schools or SLB. SLB and regular school or what we called it a hearing school has different rules and curriculum. As you know that you're a hearing person and obviously will learn English since kindergarten, but we aren't. We have to train in read-lips every day and it is used in Indonesian. No second language that we taught. The question is when will we start to learn English? We started to learn English in high school and it is about basic English, like what you started to learn English in ...
