A Family, I Should Have Known About

The International English Center, where the place may going to be unforgettable in all my life. I was lucky to have and meet with people who I would be thinking of as my family. As I spent a long time being alone and lonely, I lost everything I should have here. It all began in 2021 when my last best friend moved back to Sumatra and one is taking a master's degree in the United States. I lost and regret of my action shouldn't be ever done.

But, after many years I get through, I found the family that I have been looking for. What that is? Chi Alpha Jogja! Many communities actually but I'm going to only take a specific community that maybe I would be. Chi Alpha Jogja is a free-English community for students in Jogja. Based on an official Instagram, Chi Alpha is a place for discovery-- discovering who you are and connecting with God. Chi Alpha also offers that you can learn English with foreign people who living in Jogja. I joined them for the first time on May 13th, 2022.

I met foreign people who are from the United States and other amazing people I met. I was playing table tennis, billiard, and banana tiles with some new friends were fun and cool. I loved playing table tennis since it reminds me of when I was a student-athlete playing any sports at any tournaments and games during my high school career. I would have never played with but I could have done what I started with. I love this amazing community and by built like a family. Meeting foreign people is one of the coolest and most unforgettable moments that I never have done. I learned so many things that I never have done. And, on that day, I met a blind man and felt like a more inclusive room should have been. I know that people were in this room unaware of the persons with disability but actually what I saw of people were in this room caring and loving each other, whether what you have and what you are. A blind man enjoyed the whole of his event. That was amazing! I immediately found out what kind of a place should have been!

These were perhaps the best-ever moment since moving to Jogja in 2018. That is meaningful in my life. What I started when I came in and played with, was like saying, "Wow, that's new rules, new game, and new things I have never seen before," Then, I learned what the rules of the game are, culture, life, challenge, connection, caring, and things already been I knew. All the way, I was just doing it full of joy and enjoying the moment.

Thank you for bringing what the real community is that I have been waiting for.  I love the community. What it Chi Alpha Jogja is!

Apakah Anda Sungguh Berpikir Bahwa Orang Tuli Tidak Bisa Belajar Bahasa Inggris? (Terjemahan Bahasa Indonesia)

How Deaf People Experience Music?

Source: Drooble The Blog Fell the vibe: How deaf people experience music and create music When I was at the International English Center, I listened to music on my white earphone, my friend asked me, "How do you experience music?" This was a good question because hearing people think that Deaf people can't listen to music.  I answered, "Yes, I do!" How can it be? Here's I want to share how Deaf people experience music.  Deaf people can do anything except can't hear you know. Music is kind of identical to people who can listen to and sing. So, how can Deaf people experience music?  Firstly, we must always be grateful to God because we are born to have a modern-technology and it makes our life become easier and more accessible. My cellphone has Spotify-- which features lyrics so I can listen to music by singing the lyrics. Musixmatch also has the same feature. And, I can feel how it sounds will be like loud, medium, or soft, and what kind of sound I listen...

Why Should A Deaf Person Lives On A Hearing World?

As continued in previous writing titled "Am The Only Deaf Person", I want to speak on why should a Deaf person lives on a hearing world.  This is would be interesting because you know that none of many Deaf populations as much as hearing people have. Hearing people are bigger than Deaf people. Living as a Deaf person isn't easy, even for a hearing family who has Deaf children. Many hearing people do not know sign language. Only hearing people included a Deaf ally and maybe only 5% of the hearing people know sign language.  Which are least 10% of Deaf people who have studied at a mainstream school and as a bit of raised in the hearing world in all their life. As Surya-who was a Deaf panelist on Zoom- said that there are 90% of hearing families who have Deaf children and I can say only 4% of hearing families admitted to want to learn or teach sign language as a first language to their Deaf children. Everything can't change but Deaf people can be living on a hearing worl...
