The Views of Hearing World, Gap, Ways of Life, And Thoughts

(Source: https://www.healthline.com/health/ableism-health-risk-for-deaf-community#1)

Living in a hearing world is always interesting and such a beautiful world.  I spent in a Deaf world by studying in SLB/ a special needs school. So, I know much about ways of life, culture, and language, despite it being no sign language. Now, what about my views of the world hearing, here's I am writing about:

A hearing world whose the majority of hearing people in this country and the world. Hearing people have a powerful on the Deaf community, for a long history. Sign language was forbidden and instead of read-lips was required to be taught at all Deaf schools, through the Milano 1880. It was a nightmare and heartbroken. People don't know that sign language was found in Europe in the 17th century. But was actually found in prior to 1492, the Deaf Native Americans signed PISL (Plains Indian Sign Language).  And also in the fifth century BC when Socrates was said, "If we hadn't a voice or a tongue, and wanted to express things to one another, wouldn't we try to make signs by moving our hands, head, and the rest of our body, just as dumb people do at present?" And other minority sign languages over the world-- that which is known-well named village sign language, such as Kata Kolok in Singaraja, Bali (Bali has two different sign languages based on the region, where the north region uses Kata Kolok and the south region uses BISINDO/ Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia/ Indonesian sign language), Martha's Vineyard Sign Language in Massachusetts (extinct in 1952), Yucatec Maya Sign Language in Mexico, Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language in Israel, Hawaiian Sign Language in Hawaii, and many more village sign language (source: Wikipedia).

There is a huge gap between the Deaf world and the hearing world. Hearing people are systematically having the privilege and easier to be accessed by their life and rights, such as education, job, health, laws, and many more. I see how the system works. Being a Deaf person and also a human being, I would definitely that having different from what hearing people get and do. I know the Deaf stereotype that is created by hearing people who have views on another side of having their power and ways of thoughts. They think Deaf people can't drive, can't enjoy music, have no future, and getting worse that they think that sign language can't help Deaf people to write their language well. The stereotype makes we live separately and got a huge gap.

Unaware, ignorance, and discrimination against Deaf people come from hearing people who haven't met and are uncared for Deaf people. I always look at how does a hearing person meets with a Deaf person for the first time. Everyone knows about that. Shy, worried, and panicked, although Deaf people are just usual and chill out while they meet with a hearing person. Deaf people are most the knowledge how they meet with a hearing person because they are aware that they are just a minority but they are just being human as a  hearing person who've met. They have sign language but they never force you're gonna learn their language and you can use alternative ways still.

Back to how makes a huge gap less between the hearing world and Deaf world. That is all you need to know what by coming? The government does, but unfortunately, the house of hearing people. No Deaf representative. And, what should we take a real change? Just making a smaller community who have potentially changed society. Who takes? We, the Deaf community who is a smaller community in the middle of the hearing majority.

The views of the hearing world can be only changed if hearing people meet with Deaf people and to know about their culture and language. And, even hearing people can be a Deaf Ally. What this is? A Deaf ally is a person usually who is hearing, joins the Deaf community, and shows support, and promotes equality for Deaf people. (source: startasl.com).

It's would be a question is "why do Deaf people need allies?"

Many hearing people only want to hear what do hearing people speak, as fellow hearing people, not Deaf people speak. Since the same language and easy communication. Although when they have an interpreter but hearing people still only want to hear what an interpreter speaks. It seems against the interpreter ethic but it always happens. So, hearing allies who are showing support and working together in advocacy for Deaf people. This we say a Deaf ally. You can be a Deaf ally if you want to show in supporting and promoting equality for Deaf people. Just take part in this community to learn sign language, support for the Deaf rights, and help Deaf children pursue their happiness.

"Many hearing people only want to hear what do hearing people speak, as fellow hearing people, either Deaf people speak. Since the same language and easy communication. Although when an interpreter does but hearing people still only want to hear what an interpreter speaks."

Because you know, you can be a Deaf ally and be part of the Deaf community. What George Veditz said.

"As long as we have Deaf people on earth, we will have signs."

Sign language will never extinct and will always be alive when we still have Deaf people in the world. Deaf is proud of the identity and can be included in the views of the hearing world.

Thanks, everyone!

I'm a Retired Deaf Activist

I was born to a Deaf person in the middle of a hearing family who does not know sign language and grew up in different ways, neither in the Deaf world nor the hearing world. I studied at a Deaf school using a read-lips method and a mainstream school. So, I'm also a former mainstreamed school alumnus. What was the experience I have become a Deaf person? It was a thrilling journey. Living in an unfriendly country always be challenging. I sometimes was asked why was I born like that and why was I stuck at this family who doesn't know sign language. It felt unfair, though.  I had been an activist since June 2016 and joined Gerkatin (Gerakan untuk Kesejahteraan Tuli untuk Indonesia) which is a Deaf organization. I worked lots-- such as an interpreter, sign language teacher, public speaker, event committee, coordinator, and lead the group, etc-- and had experienced lots, which downs and ups. It was mixed feelings. Being an activist that what you see it looks fun and cool but either t...

Saya ...

I Am An Author Who You Known, I am Christian

" Take up the cross and follow me " Matthew 16: 24 If you are a loyal reader who has been reading since the first writing published in January 2020, I would like to announce that I have a fact that really needed to announce. Look at a title, that says I am Christian. Yep, I am Christian and am a follower of Christ. I have prepared some questions might you want to ask When was getting baptized? In December 2019 at GKI Gejayan, Yogyakarta. My baptized name is Malachi Raka. Where is the church usually you worship? English Worship, Yogyakarta. Why did you convert to Christianity? It’s a long story but that came to me who had been fighting for the truth and what makes me feel comfortable and to grow up who am myself. I converted because it’s my decision not because of a girlfriend, I do not have a girlfriend and am still single. After spending two years, I ended up finding Jesus Christ through coming to the church and started tearing up while listening to Christian songs. I really...
