The Sixth Letter: An Experience With Self Isolated

I began self isolated on March 16 until now. I was doing it because the government's recommendation about WFH (Work From House). Normally 14 days or 2 weeks but I've crossing for more than 14 days even almost 1 month.

Then, what was I doing during self isolated?

I just doing:
1. Sleeping
2. Reading book/ ebook and learning some foreign languages
3. Watching many movies/ dramas on internet or file
4. Writing
5. Eating
6. Praying with God
7. Joining interpreter volunteer
8. Involving a joint project with Sejin who female Deaf person from South Korea but living in Auckland, New Zealand
9. Talking and chatting with my friends with video call and texting
10. Attending some online events with Zoom app
11. Others activity

Obviously, everyone will ask me about my activities during self isolated.

"How bored are you?"
"Are you happy with this condition?"
"How about your food?"
"How did you feeling about Covid-19?"
"How strong have you been through this?"
And many questions.

My response:
"I'm fine and I have many things. Yeah, you're right, I'm bored. Sometimes, I always miss Jogja's situation, my friends, and my field. But, I have to following the government's policy to save a lot of people and make Indonesia and the world will back to normal activity again."

So, I think this is our obligation to save the world and people, including the medical workers team had fighting for us. If you didn't, it means you ignore their suggestions. You will not be safe. So, Covid-19 is a dangerous thing. The best choice is only to stay at home during pandemic. Through this, pandemic will go quickly.

For the first time for me, I'm experiencing that problem in my life despite I knew about that because I have reading Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918-1920. Sometimes, I was afraid and always thought about my family, my friends, and even my dream. But, I have God, God will always with me forever. So, I feeling will be safe if I stay at home temporarily. This I have done this and will continue until the end.

For the medical workers team, I very appreciate and feeling proud of them. My mom was a nurse too. So, I hope they will health during a pandemic. I just saying, "They're real heroes for Indonesia and also the world. They're a HERO now." I'm thankful to them. They're the hero for the world and Indonesia because they are fighting in the vanguard same like a soldier.

I hope you will stay at home for the medical workers team. Because only stay home, you will save a lot of people. Just a reminder! I hope everyone will be remember that what I saying.

KEEP FIGHTING! LET'S SAVE THE WORLD WITH ONLY STAY HOME!

Saya ...

Gloss, A Forgotten Learning Foreign Language and Translate

I was testing a student who stood up to share her short story in signs in our class. She was so good at signing despite sign language being the third language that she is learning and isn't a native speaker. She was confused about gloss or glosa in Indonesian. That's the thing that is most often forgotten when learning and translating a foreign language. Foreign language teachers almost never teach about gloss to students and yeah, I am sure some do and some do not.  The Gloss (Gr) means when a word is attached to a sign in simple terms. It refers to the way that ASL (American Sign Language) names signs in order to give a sense of the meanings behind them. A word or word that represents that sign does not signify its meaning in any way (source: What Are Glosses in Sign Language/  https://www.ilovelanguages.com/what-are-glosses-in-sign-language ). A gloss happens because it causes when a student who learns a second language but their mind that used to be a native language as bo...
