A Rough Week of Being a Deaf Person

After Mrs. Risma's action to force a Deaf boy and woman to speak went viral on December 2th, 2021 ahead of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to be held every 3 of December, I had a rough week and worked up to rebuild my feelings and mental health. Mrs. Risma's action and clarification were really unacceptable and offensive. She shows how does audism its finest and being a normal thing, that seems perfect, better, and must achieve of becoming a hearing person as standardly. Even although, we don't be and we have our identity and culture that are the huge difference from hearing people who are about the majority. We are about to tell hearing people that must know ours first.   That is really not easy that spend a week, I had a stressful and headache. Things that made me of overthinking is how do Deaf children who were raised by hearing family who doesn't know sign language and Deaf culture. That's the answer that I have been afraid of. Sur...

I am A Proud Deaf Who Uses Sign Language

Sadness, upset, and disappointment with the treatment of Mrs. Risma-Minister of Social Affairs-of Deaf children who were forced to speak without being given a choice of communication and there was even a recent video showing Mrs. Risma asking a Deaf woman not to use sign language. It happened on December 1 just before the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will be held on December 3. Until now, Mrs. Risma has not apologized and even defended her a lot. Mrs. Risma's treatment of Deaf participants was cruel and inhumanity. They show audism or the supremacy of hearing people who look down on Deaf people, which is the same as white supremacy-white people-being considered the most superior race and looking down on other races that are not white, such as black people, Asians, Latinos, and others. other. Deaf people are treated as helpless, stupid, mute, unable to be independent, have no future, and must reach the standard of hearing as the majority, such as having to be able ...

Aku Bangga Tuli Berbahasa Isyarat

How To Behave The Statement of Ableism and Audism Ways Thinking?

Indonesia’s social affairs minister Bu Risma criticised for telling an event on the International Day of People with Disability that Deaf people should force themselves to speak in public (rather than use sign language). Source: https://twitter.com/Jayandaru2020/status/1466312635050201093 That's heartbreaking and just speechless what she spoke on Deaf people and over 7 million Deaf people in Indonesia. Turning the International Disability Day on December 1-4th, 2021, that isn't what we expected to be respected for our language and culture. We were asked to speak without sign language and felt hurt, mad, disappointed, and standing up to what we the most know of our language and culture, sign language. No one can instead, except someone has their right to freedom in the ways of communication they had and must be respected any they decided.  There are 90% of Deaf children who raised by hearing families who don't know Deaf culture. The data I got is from Surya Sahetapy who is a...
